3/14/2012 - Beach FC U12B Red wins top division at 2012 Jefferson Cup! Beach FC would like to congratulate the u12 Boys Red team on its Jefferson Cup success this past weekend. The team won both Saturday games in hard fought contests against CASL (NC) and SYA (VA) 3-2 respectively. They advanced to the semi finals to face a Richmond Kickers team that plays a year up in league play and ultimately prevailed 2-1. In the finals Beach FC squared off against Greensboro (NC) and took home the championship trophy with a 4-0 victory.

Wayne Pratt, who also coaches the current u15 VYSA state cup champs Beach FC Red, was proud of his team for their efforts this weekend. "It was a quality group and our boys did a great job of competing against some very good teams. It is still early in the season so there is always room for improvement, but nonetheless a good weekend to build off of."

Beach FC Boys DOC Mark Waite has high expectations for this team moving forward in the club. "It was a good weekend for our u12 Red team, which starts with the fact that we have a very competitive u12 agegroup. Every one of our u12 boys works hard and it has created an environment that has elevated the standard in the agegroup, which is great to see."

Congratulations again to coach Pratt and the u12 Boys Red team for a wonderful accomplishment this past weekend at the Jefferson Cup. - Team Photo

2/14/12 - VCCL North Expands to U18 Starting Fall 2012 for Top Seven Northern Virginia Clubs Following an extremely successful inaugural season, the Virginia Club Champions League, ("VCCL") northern division is expanding to include all elite teams through U18. VCCL North opened in the fall of 2011 with U11 through U14 age divisions for both boys and girls. A development division for U9 and U10 was approved for the VCCL North at the same time.

VCCL North includes the top clubs in northern Virginia: Annandale, Arlington, Braddock Road, Fredericksburg Area Soccer Association (FASA), Loudoun, Prince William Soccer, Inc. (PWSI), and Southwestern Youth Association (SYA). Originally based in central and southern Virginia, VCCL South consists of eight elite clubs: Beach FC, FC Richmond, Richmond Strikers, Richmond Kickers, Roanoke Star, SOCA, Virginia Legacy and Virginia Rush.

The addition of the older age groups finalizes the goal of a statewide league based on the club model. Play with all age groups will begin in the fall 2012 soccer season. The VCCL model also brings added stability to the member clubs, as the league limits player movement. The league uses block scheduling for game days, so all of the top teams from the club travel to the same opponent on the same day. This format seeks to create a club-centric environment which benefits players, parents and coaches. The VCCL does not promote or relegate teams but instead is designed to allow teams to maximize player development. Being part of the VCCL also helps place member clubs into top tournaments and college showcases.

The VCCL was the first league in VYSA to use a club pass system that allows any age-appropriate player in a club to guest-play with a team from the same club in VCCL league games. VCCL also championed the development of the Provisional Roster, which allows certain players on other rosters within the club to play for a team in league play only without officially transferring to that team. VCCL was formed in 1997 for boys teams U-11 through U-18/19. In June 2000 girl's teams were added with play beginning in the fall 2000 season. Beginning with the fall 2005 season, VCCL adopted eight-a-side play for U-11 teams, and eight-a-side play for U-12 teams beginning fall 2007. The VCCL North clubs were added in the fall of 2011.

2/7/12 - Two Beach FC players travel to France with Virginia ODP! Beach FC's Logan Montel (U14G Red) and Kimmie Kerstiens (U16G Red) have been selected to represent the Virginia Olympic Development Program (VYSA ODP) on an international tour of France this spring of 2012.

The Virginia Youth Soccer Association has a specific goal to provide a high quality developmental experience for all the players participating in the Olympic Development Program (ODP). It is the opinion of the VYSA Technical Staff that the international experience is extremely important in a top competitive player's development. It allows our players to test themselves against some of the best youth players and clubs in the world. Lastly, it is tremendous preparation for participation on regional and national teams as well as college and or professional soccer. The experiences these players bring home also benefit their club teammates as well.

Congratulations to Logan and Kimmie!

2/1/12 - Alani Johnson heads to Spain with Region I ODP team! Alani Johnson, Beach FC U16G Red, has been selected to travel and compete with the US YOUTH SOCCER REGION I Girls ODP team on an International Tour of Spain February 17 - February 27, 2011.

The purpose of ODP Foreign Travel is to ensure the highest quality experience for the players participating in the program. International experience is extremely important in a top competitive player's development. It allows players to test themselves against some of the best youth players and clubs in the world. It is also tremendous preparation for participation on national teams as well as in college and/or professional soccer.

The cultural benefits associated with international travel are extremely important to the personal growth and development of a player. To observe and participate in a foreign culture and experience firsthand the customs, languages, food, and ways of a different people can only enhance the player's future education and leave a lasting impression.

11.22.2010 - Beach FC U13G Red Captures Bethesda Tournament!! In their final tournament of the fall season, the Beach FC U13G Red captured their second consecutive championship. The U13 Beach team ended their season in style by shutting out every opponent they faced.

Although the team played with some inconsistency after a 2 week lay-off from competition, they were able to come together with great individual efforts as they beat LMVSV Patriots from VA 3-0. The second game of the day vs. PHWMFC Wildcats was a complete team effort as we got goals from Haley S., Ashley L., Alex B., Julia M. and Auguste F. Our defensive core of Talia T., Rea S., Hailey D., and Caria M. did an excellent job of limiting opportunities.

With game delays the next day and the opportunity to play in the championship game already secured, Ashley L. scored the game winning goal vs. Bethesda Azul with about 3 minutes remaining in regulations for a 1-0 win. Ashley L. came through again with the winning score in the championship game; however this time the goal was scored early in the match. The team did an excellent job of limiting opportunities on goal the rest of the game as Beach FC got their 4th shut-out of the tournament. Ashley L. and Emma L. were named co-MVPs of the tournament. Good job this fall season in the VCCL and an excellent job in winning the tournament.
